Preventative Dentistry for Fairfield Families

Despite the steady advancement of technology and methodologies, successfully committing to a Preventative Dental Program remains a key factor in maintaining you and your family's overall oral health and lovely smile! At Solano Dental Group, we are committed to helping our patients in Fairfield establish great dental hygiene habits that will not only improve their health but save their money. Preventative action and early detection lowers the chances of you having to undergo major dental procedures.

At Solano Dental Group, we provide preventive dental services including:

Dental Exams & Cleanings

Ideally, you should have a deep cleaning and exam at least twice a year. During your visit, Drs. Chen and Su will examine your teeth for decay, tumors, cysts, and bone loss with safe x-rays while reviewing your medical history. While we remove calculus (tartar) and plaque from your teeth, we will use our intra oral cameras to show you personally what Drs. Chen and Su see! We will be able to answer any questions and give personal advice on how you can maximize your oral health with this technology.

Dental Sealants

Dental Sealants are very thin invisible plastic coating that are applied on the grooves on the surface of the back teeth where chewing occurs. Sealants are designed to protect teeth from tooth decay, and will benefit those who have very deep crevices and grooves. Unless these are covered by sealants, you increase the chances of collecting germs and food particles. Most kids and teenagers who get cavities at an early age get them because of these food particles sticking to the surface in areas that are hard to clean.

Fluoride Treatments

Fluoride treatments are painless and can be administered during routine check-ups and cleanings. The treatment takes only a few minutes.Fluoride is effective in preventing cavities and tooth decay as it deters the buildup of plaque and the hardening of the tooth's surface. After the treatment, patients may be asked not to rinse, eat, or drink for at least 30 minutes in order to allow the teeth to absorb the fluoride. Depending on your oral health or your doctor’s recommendation, you may be required to have a fluoride treatment every three, six, or 12 months.

DIAGNOdent Laser Screenings

This revolutionary technology allows us to treat small cavities and areas of tooth decay before they become larger procedures. It utilizes a precise laser scanning system to scan over all your teeth while sending out an audio signal and registering a digital read out. By measuring the fluorescence within each tooth structure, we can determine if there are cavities developing in the small spaces between, around, or on your teeth!

Oral Cancer Screenings

By screening and diagnosing oral cancer early, we will be able to prevent and treat the condition. We have a multitude of x-rays as well as VELscope screenings to detect early signs of oral, neck, and head cancers. While we screen for oral cancers during exams, be aware that proactivity is the best course of action. Look out for symptoms such as sores in your neck, head or mouth that doesn't heal in 2-3 weeks; red white or blue patches; a lump in your cheek; numbness in the mouth that didn't used to be there; and/or swelling that causes dentures to fit poorly (not the same as denture sores!).
